APRIL 18, 2019: INDEX DOWN 0.58% IN 4 DAYS AT GHANA STOCK EXCHANGE
At the Ghana Stock Exchange, the composite index closed Thursday April 18, 2018 at 2391.97 compared to 2401.18 on Wednesday.
By implication, because Friday is a holiday, the GCI dropped by 0.58% in a 4 day week when compared 2405.82 with which it closed on Friday April 12, 2019.
Through the 4 days, the GCI only rallied once on Wednesday April 17 to 2401.11. It dropped to 2400.35 on Monday then eased some to 2396.18 on Tuesday before the exceptional rise on Wednesday.
Thus the low for the week was Friday's 2391.97 and it was recorded as 4 price drops and 1 gain occurred
The lone price gain was by Ghana Commercial Bank while recording exchange of 6500 shares valued at GHs 25,740.
GCB closed at the last deal price of GHs 3.96 per share up GHs 0.01 on GHs 3.95 per share on Friday.What's more, it may gain more next because offer price jumped to GHs 4.5 per share after the last deal.
Top price loss was Ecobank Ghana's GHs 0.2 per share recorded as it closed at the last deal price of GHs 7.8 per share while 600 shares were traded.
On Wednesday, EGH had closed at GHs 8 per share but it is not easy to guess what will happen next as bid price slipped further to GHs 7 per share while offer rallied a little to GHs 7.99 per share.
Enterprise Ghana shed GHs 0.03 per share to close at last deal price of GHs 2.16 per share compared to GHs 2.19 previously and it may decline further since bid and offer prices closed at GHs 2 and 2.15 per share respectively
Fan Milk Limited and Total Kenya also shed GHs 0.02 per share each. FML closed at last deal price of GHs 7.8 per share while witnessing exchange of 200 units.
On the other hand, Total Kenya recorded the day's top volume of 93,100 shares worth leading GHs 472,312.
The shares were traded at GHs 5.09 per share with which it closed Wednesday then Total Kenya shed GHs 0.02 per share to close at GHs 5.07 per share.
The 4 day week was dominated by above average traded volume although just 35,022 shares exchanged at take off on Monday has initially tried to herald the opposite.
In all, 144,651 shares were exchanged down though on Wednesday's all week high 784,212 shares traded.
