DEC 5, 2018: AGAIN, RALLY AT GHANA STOCK EXCHANGE
Once again, the Ghana Stock Exchange rallied on Wednesday December 5 2018 after Monday much welcomed first rally had been dimmed the next day.
The Ghana Composite Index rose to 2632.36 from Tuesday's 2607.76 thus almost getting back to Monday's cherry start to the week and new month 2645.35.
Wednesday was a busy day for price changes on both sides of the divide: 4 gains and 3 price drops. Hence, the strong rally was a product of relative weights on the index basket.
Top gain was GHs 0.06 per share by Access Bank but it was a gain that occurred after last for the day was done at firm GHs 4.08 per share as it closed at GHs 4.14 per share. In all, 3200 shares were exchanged.
On the other hand, top price drop was recorded by Republic Bank Ghana down GHs 0.05 per share to close and record last deal at GHs 0.75 per share compared to GHs 0.8 previously.
MTN Ghana rallied GHs 0.02 per share to GHs 0.8 per share but not during a major offload. Only 200 of its shares were exchanged for the day although closing bid price was GHs 0.76 per share.
All other price changes were of GHs 0.01 per share. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated closed up by this margin after recording its day high 589,400 shares traded volume. The last deal and closing price was GHs 0.19 per share compared to GHs 0.18 previously.
So did Standard Chartered Bank in which only 100 units were traded at GHs 20.25 per share as against GHs 20.24 on Tuesday.
Both CAL Bank and Enterprise Group closed down with the same margin. CAL Bank recorded exchange of 6100 shares at GHs 0.95 per share, down on Tuesday's GHs 0.96 while EGL's 300 units changed hands at GHs 2.5 per share compared to GHs 2.51 previously.
Ghana Commercial Bank witnessed 2nd highest volume of 302,100 shares traded at firm GHs 4.8 per share buy its bid price ended the day at GHs 4.7 per share.
