LAST WEEK AT THE NIGERIAN STOCK EXCHANGE

Despite a major plunge by high priced Seplat Petroleum on Friday, July 27 2018, the All share index at the Nigerian Stock Exchange closed up 0.56% and 0.57% on Thursday's and previous Friday levels respectively.

It closed last Friday at 36,636.97 from 36,427.22 on Thursday and 36,603.44 the previous Friday. This was after growing from 36,346.80 clocked on Wednesday.

Before Wednesday, 2 days downwards consecutively had driven ASI to week low on Wednesday making 36,711.96 reached on Monday at the start of the week to be the highest figure.

Thursday rally was in spite of N1 per share drop in Dangote Cement and was driven by N51 or 3.2% per share gain by Nestle Nigeria as  42 deals were struck for 0.086m shares worth N130.249m.

Come Friday, the market was truly bullish as 30 price gains and only 9 drops were recorded although the Seplat Petroleum N25 per share plunge paced price drops and top price gain was by Cement Company Of Northern Nigeria, up N2.95 or 10% per share as 0.628m of its hares were exchanged in 68 deals worth N19.27m.

In the end, Nestle topped all week gains with N71 per share while closing at N1501 per share from previous week's N1430 followed by CCNN up N6.45 per share and Guaranty Trust Bank with N1.60 per share gain.

ON the other hand, the price losers were paced by Seplat Petroleum with its Friday plunge followed by Presco down N6.60 prt share and Forte Oil which shed N3.90 per share within the week.

In all. 19,832 deals were sealed within the week compared to 18,795 previously involving 1417.45m shares worth N16.739bn as against 1655m shares valued at N14.833bn at close of the previous week.

Medview Airlines recorded consistent offload thrice within week to top traded volume with 300m shares exchanged in only 18 deals worth N638.5m followed by FBN Holdings with 142.797m shares in 3rd placed 1148 deals worth 5th ranked N1.25bn.

Lead traded value and top number of deals were however, by Zenith Bank in which 1,710 deals were sealed for 3rd ranked 121.838m shares worth N3.182bn.
