NIGERIAN STOCK EXCHANGE MARKET DATA WORKSHOP

The Nigerian stock exchange is to organise its second market data workshop on October 4, this year at the Civic Centre, Ozumba Mbadiwe road, Victoria Island, Lagos from 9am.

The workshop will explore the theme: "Market data; the bedrock of wealth creation"

It is expected to be attended by retail and institutional investors; brokers; pension administrators; media representatives; government agencies and participants from other exchanges in Africa.

It shall comprise of keynote address; presentations by leading experts; interactive sessions and panel discussions on market data products and related challenges and guidelines for data contracts amongst others.

According to the Nigerian stock exchange, the main objective is "to increase awareness of the critical role of market data as fundamental input for wealth creation and bridge the gap between the exchange and market participants"

It is provide an opportunity to showcase the market's "wide range of data products, historical or real time and their appropriateness for different classes".

The first workshop in the series was organised on October 19, last year with Dr Yemi Kale, Nigeria's statistician general presenting the keynote address.

Other paper presentations included those by Oscar Onyema the CEO of the exchange, Bola Apomale, MD NASD, Haruna Jalo-Waziri, ED Capital Markets of the exchange; Uwa Agbonile, MD Infoware ltd, Obiora Anyichie, MD Global Tyrpe Solutions ltd and Ade Ewuosho, head Market services of the NSE.
