AUGUST 23, 2017: RUNAWAY TRADED VALUE AT NIGERIAN STOCK EXCHANGE.

At the Nigerian stock market today, August 23, 2017, witnessed runaway traded value of N5.53bn, up 50.6% and well ahead if only 8.18% growth recorded in traded value to 264.28m shares accompanied by 0.52% rise in number of deals to 3849.

The runaway occurred as 3 equities, of high price range, closed with deals for above N1m each.

Zenith bank edged ahead of NestlĂ© Nigeria with N1,324bn traded value as it recorded day high 327 deals and 57.24m shares offload. Zenith had closed up by N0.45  per share.

On the other hand, Nestle eased by N0.20 per share then recorded 10th ranked 106 deals for 1.08m units worth N1.322.88bn.

The 3rd traded value driver was GTV with 2nd ranked 322 deals for 3rd placed 23.5m shares worth N1,16bn while gaining N0.09 per share.

Thus, together, the trio accounted for N3.81bn or 68.9% of traded value for the day.

However, Nestlé's volume was short of top 10 and GTB's was edged into 3rd position by UBA, up N0.12 per share with 4th placed 232 deals for 40.59m offload worth 5th placed N378.86m.

FBN Holdings trailed Zenith and GTB in deals recording 264 deals for 5tg ranked 12.09m shares worth N75.5m a step ahead of the 10th in terms of value.

La, Farge  Africa was the 5th equity with above 200 deals closing with 211 deals for 7.119 units worth N412.33m despite going down by N1.49 per share.

Closing up 0.26% to 37,059.21 was a rather dicey affair for the All shares index but mainly because the pull downward by 17 losers was strong .

Total Nigeria led Naira losers with a drop of N11.51 per share or 4.81%. It also recorded 60 deals involving 0.147m shares worth N34.3m.

It was followed by 7up down by N4.84 per share or 2nd ranked 4.99%. 7up ended the day with 15 deals for 0.063m shares worth N5.868m while Skyebank, down N0.05 per share or 7.46% led % drops and ended with 39 deals for 5.26m units worth N3.215m.

There were 21 gaibers led in Naira terms by Nigerian Breweries, up N2.01 or 1.10% per share and % wise by Caverton Offshore which closed 9.52% up or N0.1 per share and recorded just 6 deals for 0.421m shares worth N0.48m.
