NEW CFO FOR DANGOTE CEMENT
The board of directors of Dangote cement PLC has announced the appointment of Mr Brian Egan as the new Executive director, Finance and group Chief Finance Officer (CFO).
According to official notice signed by a director of the company, Mr Joseph Makoju, the chairman of the board, Aliko Dangote, said of the new ED;
"I am delighted to welcome Brian to the board. His appointment as executive director finance reflects the significant contribution he has made to the group since he joined in April 2014.
He has transformed our financial management and reporting and become a trusted source of insight for investors..".
Before joining Dangote cement Brian had worked as executive director and CFO of Petropavlovsk PLC and Aricom PLC both listed on the London stock exchange.
He was also group CFO for Gloria Jeans Corporation; financial director/company secretary of Georgia Pacific Ireland Ltd and CFO Cocacola HBC Russia.
He trained with KPMG and is a member of the institute of chartered accountants in Ireland.
NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR FOR GSK.
GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK) board of directors at a meeting on Thursday, July 27, 2017, accepted the resignation of Mr Puneet Dharma as an executive director with effect from July 14, 2017.
According to company secretary, Uche Uwechia, he was replaced with Mr Karim Handy whose appointment tool effect from yesterday, July 28, 2017.
Karim Handy has 11 years experience at top management positions in accounting, business partnering, strategic planning, change management and corporate finance.
He joined GSK Dubai as finance and supply chain manager in 2011 and later moved to GSK UK as lead for Bison, IPT and finance transformation.
Before joining GSK, he was financial planning analyst for Mobility Etisalat Saudi Arabia and senior analyst from 2008 to 2011 after stints at Unilever and Coca Cola international ,Egypt.
LAW, UNION & ROCK NEW DIRECTOR.
Following the Board of directors acceptance of the resignation of Victor Olusegun Faleye as non executive director, Law Union & Rock Insurance has announced the appointment of Mr Kunle Aluko with effect from July 25, this year.
According to company secretary and head, legal for the company, Stan Chikwendu, the appointment is subject to approval by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
The new non ED brings to bear over 20 years active banking experience which included working with Barclay's bank, now Union Bank for years before retiring as AGM corporate banking in 1990.
It also includes stints as the chief executive of now defunct Metropolitan Bank and appointment as non ED on Skye Bank board 2011 to 2016 and as Chairman of Skye Bank Gambia from 2014 to 2016.
