NIGERIA'S LEAST TRADED EQUITIES.
At the Nigerian stock exchange as at close of business last Thursday, April 13, a total of 19 quoted equities can be ranked the least traded ones in the market.
Seven of them have not recorded any deal since this year and we are in April; two no deals since January; three no deals since February and another seven no deals since March.
Among the seven with zero deals since this year, none in fact had recorded any deal in years.
Leading the pack was Ikeja Hotels PLC in which the last transaction was on November 9, 2006 ( that is almost 11 years ago). The transaction was for 10,000 units at N1.80 per share.
MTech Communications PLC was next. The last deal on it was in November 2009 although it was for a fairly large parcel of 499,998units at N0.91 per share.
Also showcasing years without any deals was Goldlink Insurance PLC in which the last deal sealed was at N0.50 per share for 499,000 shares in November 2012; that is five years ago approximately.
All these equities are quoted on the main board of the exchange just like SIM Capital Alliance Value Fund which recorded its last deal to date on August 18, 2015 at N103.4 for just 50 units.
Also tracing its last deal to 2015 was Afrik Pharmaceuticals PLC quoted in the emerging market segment (ASEM) in which last deal was sealed September 16, 2015 for 1000 units at N0.50 per share.
However, both were behind Anino International PLC also quoted on ASEM in which the last deal was on November 20 2014 at N0.25 per share for 50,000 shares.
Finally, there is also Resort Savings & Loans PLC of the main which reckons last deal not in years but months having recorded deals for 200,000 units at N0.50 per share on November 17, last year.
On the other hand, the two without deals since January were Ellah Lakes which had last on January 19 at N4.47 per share for just 100 units and ASEM's Ran Unity Petroleum PLC last traded on January 31 in a deal at N0.52 per share for 160 shares
Those without deals since February were Skye Shelter Trust Fund last traded on February 8 at N100 per share for two units; Union Homes investment trust last traded February 13 for 200 shares at N42.96; and Omatek Ventures PLC last traded on February 24 at N0.50 for 100,000 shares
As at last Thursday close, the equities yet to record any deals in April were Austin Laz & Co last traded March 7; Arbico and Juli PLC both last traded on March 23; Afromedia PLC in which last trade was on March 28 and the duo of Golden Guinea Breweries PLC and Aso Savings & Loans PLC last traded on March 30, this year.
