STATE INTERNALLY GENERATED REVENUE DOWN 3.56%

The total internally generated revenue of the 36 states of Nigeria dropped by 3.56% in 2015, according to statistics released by the National Bureau of statistics (NBS).
According to the figures released recently, the total generated by the states was N682,673.5m in 2015 compared to N707,858m in 2014.
Of the 36 States of Nigeria, only 10 recorded increase in IGR in 2015. Out of them, six reported double digit growth while others struggled with single digit.
Top of the lot in terms of growth was Ogun state which almost doubled its IGR in 2015, rising by 97.72% to N34596.4m from N17497.6m previously.
However, it was surely a superlative, lone ranging performance by Ogun state because Anambra state recorded the second highest growth from a very long distance. Its IGR for the year came to N14703.1m, up 41.48 % on 2014's N10,454.6m.
On the other hand, the IGR of Borno state increased by 27.9% to N3530.3m from N2760.8m to place third.
The other three states with double digit growths in IGR were Edo state up 12.3% to N19,117.5m; Bauchi state with 11.1% increase to N5393.7m and Sokoto which clocked N6224.4m IGR in 2015, representing 10.8% increase.
No States reported drops in the class of Ogun state's growth but eleven out of 25 states remaining had double digit decreases. There was no 2015 data from one state.
Lead drop was reported by Kwara state as its 2015 IGR decreased by 42.4% to N7178.9m followed by IMO state with 32.2% drop to N5472.6m and Yobe state's 26.8% decline in IGR to N2251.3m.
Other major drops were recorded in Bayelsa stare ( IGR down 20.5% to N8713.5m; Jigawa state with 19% decrease to N5081.4m and Plateau state which reported N6937.3m, down 16.3% on 2014 level.
Also there was 13.83% decrease in Ondo state IGR to N10090m; closely followed by Cross River state 13.8% drop to N13567.1m; Zamfara state with 12.95% decrease to N2741.6m and Adamawa state's 10.87% IGR rise to N4451.7m.
However, only Ogun, Edo and Anambra States of the top growth states actually raked in relatively big money. Top IGR remains Lagos state's N268,224.8m for 2015 even though it was 2.87% lower than N276,164m raked in 2014.
In fact the first five top IGRs ended with drops except Ogun and Edo states.
Next to Lagos was Rivers state with N82101.3m IGR in 2015, down 7.87% and Delta state which ended 4.7% down to N40805.7m IGR.
Ogun and Edo states were fourth and fifth respectively overtaking some that were ahead of them in 2014.
Anambra state was the other growth state with IGR amongst the top ten. In 2015, it was in eighth position behind Enugu state's N18081m, and Oyo state's N15663.5m.
After Anambra, Akwa Ibom came in ninth with N14791.2m before, finally Kano became the lone northern state with top ten IGR at N13,611.9m, down by the lowest percentage of 0.37%.
