CORPORATE NEWS: NEW DIRECTORS FOR AIICO, UBA. ECOBANK.

AIICO INSURANCE: BOARD CHANGES
At the board of directors meeting held on March 17 2016, two directors resigned and three new ones were appointed at another meeting on May 5, to the board.
The two non executive directors that resigned were Chief Oladele Fajemirokun and Senator Tokunbo Ogunbanjo.
The three new members were Mr Samaila Dalhat Zubairu, Mr Bukola Oluwadiya and Mr Ademola Adebise.
Mr Zubairu is currently the vice chairman of Africapital-Gem Development Partners ltd and a director of Nigerian infrastructure investment fund.
With over 26 years of working experience in various capacities including as chief finance officer for Dangote cement and Obajana cement PLC, Zubairu holds Bsc Hons and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).
He also worked as treasurer, Dangote group, head investment banking and later group head, risk management at Liberty bank and as head of projects finance at FSB bank.
Mr Oluwadiya holds Bsc, and MBA and is a fellow of the chartered accountants of Nigeria.
With vast experience in banking and finance and oil and gas, his career started with Grindlays merchant bank where he rose to be AGM corporate banking and also spanned two years in Sydney Australia and stint as GM strategic planning.
Presently he is the managing director of Magnautis Finance and Investment ltd.
Mr Ademola is currently an executive director of Wema bank and had worked in Accenture, National Bank and chartered bank.
He is a computer science graduate, fellow of ICAN and an associate of institute of taxation.
UBA PLC: NEW DIRECTORS
In place of two directors retiring, five new executive directors have been appointed to the board of UBA PLC subject to Central Bank approval and with effect from At August 1, 2016.
Mr Femi Olaloku's retirement becomes effective from June 30 while Ms Obi Ibekwe own retirement took effect from May 3,.
According to group company secretary Billi A Odum, five new executive directors were appointed at the board meeting of May 16.
They include Mr Ibrahim Puri, ED North, Mr Ayoku Liadi ED Lagos and West, Mr Oliver Alawuba ED/CEO UBA Africa, Mr Uche Ike ED Risk management and Mr Chukwuma Nweke ED Operations and technology.
Mr Puri holds Bsc in accountancy, MSc in banking and finance  from Bayero University, Kano.
He brings to bear over twenty years in banking spanning operations, trade and structured finance, retail and corporate banking.
Before his new post he was head wholesale banking North, regional director Abuja and regional head, North West.
Mr Ayoku Liadi has Bsc Business management from University of Nigeria Nsukka and a chartered accountant.
He joined UBA in 2014 after over 20 years banking experience in business transformation, relationship management, operations, risk management and business strategy. He was once MS GTB Sierra Leone.
Mr Oliver Alawuba holds Bsc food science and technology from Abia state University, MSc from University of Ibadan and an MBA in banking and finance from Olabisi Onabanjo University. He is also member of Nigeria Institute of management and institute of directors.
Mr Uche Ike comes aboard with Bsc in accountancy, and MBA from university of Benin and associate membership of ICAN.
He was GM UBA New York and had also supervised UBA operations in East and south Nigeria.
He has Bsc over 20years experience in operations, internal audit, risk management and regulatory compliance.
Finally Mr Nweke also holds Bsc in accountancy, MBA from university of Nigeria Nsukka and is an associate of ICAN.
He has above 20 years experience in operations, finance, technology, audit and strategy.
ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL: New executive
A Pakistani, Mr Amin Manekia has been appointed group executive, corporate and investment banking at ECOBANK Transnational plc but with effect from July 4, this year.
He joined Citibank group in 1988 spending 25 years there in various capacities including as MD and Head for East and Southern Africa, as country head for Bulgaria before a stint in Pakistan, Gus home country.
Reporting directly to the group CEO, says Richard Uku, Group head of communications, he will oversee group functions in corporate banking, transaction service, investment banking  and Fixed income, currencies and commodities.
