CORPORATE NEWS: NEW DIRECTORS FOR ACCESS BANK, FLOUR MILLS, etc
TWO NEW DIRECTORS AT ACCESS BANK.
Two new non executive directors have been appointed to the board of Access Bank PLC.
They are Messrs Iboroma T Akpana and Adeniyi A Adekoya.
Mr Akpana is an international lawyer licensed to practice law in Nigeria, USA and UK.
He is a member of the International bar association, American bar association, New York state bar association, the Law society of England and Wales and of the Nigerian bar association.
He obtained LLB from the University of Jos and Masters in law from Harvard law school.
He is currently the managing partner of Solola & Akpana, an oil and gas law firm.
Mr Adekoya, on the other hand, is a marine and gas expert and currently executive director Synerpat Nigeria ltd
With Bsc Business administration from University of Lagos, his working experience runs through being general manager Peace gate Holdings, consultant to Main Nigeria ltd and budget officer, Mobil Producing Ltd.
EX MINISTER JOINS FLOUR MILLS BOARD
Flour Mills of Nigeria PLC has announced the appointment of ex- federal minister, Mrs Salamatu Hussaini Suleiman as an independent director from March 8, this year.
Between 2008 and 2010, Mrs Suleiman was the federal minister for women affairs and later, minister of state, Foreign Affairs.
Up to April last year she was also commissioner political, affairs, peace and security, ECOWAS.
She became a minister after working at the Securities and Exchange commission as director, legal services between 2001 and 2008.
She also worked with Sokoto state as counsel, then joined Continental Merchant bank, then NAL Merchant bank before joining Aluminum smelter company 1997 to 2001 as legal adviser/company secretary.
Mrs Suleiman is Flour Mills first female director and holds LLB from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and LLM from London School of economics.
NEW CEO FOR LINKAGE ASSURANCE
Dr Pius Apere has since February assumed duty as the new managing director/CEO of Linkage Assurance plc, where he had been deputy MD hitherto.
Dr Apere is an actuarial scientist with PHD Actuarial science from CASS business school City University London.
He also obtained an MSc in the same field from CASS after obtaining Bsc Actuarial science from the University of Lagos.
His working career spans being life manager, Unity Life and Insurance; consulting partner with Chike Oyeka & co and as head, life insurance Cornerstone Insurance.
It also spans years from 2005 in the UK as actuarial analyst with first Zurich Assurance Swindon. Lloyd's Banking group, Bristol and as MD Anchor Actuarial Science Ltd London.
